Beginner Guide to Pole & Aerial Classes
Most Air & Asanas students start as beginners. This guide covers what your first class feels like, what to wear, and how to book without overwhelm.
1. Pick a discipline
Pole fitness and pole dance build strength and flow on the pole — the primary focus at Air & Asanas. Aerial silks, hoop, hammock and aerial yoga are the secondary aerial arts pathway. Not sure? Message Air & Asanas for a recommendation.
2. Choose a location
We teach in Santacruz West, Andheri West and Malad West. Timetables differ by studio, so confirm the nearest branch before you plan your week.
3. Ask about a trial
First-time students can enquire about trial sessions at select locations. Share your experience level and preferred day on WhatsApp so we can place you in the right class.
4. Arrive ready
Wear grip-friendly clothing, remove sharp jewellery, and tell your instructor about injuries. Arrive a few minutes early for a safety briefing if it is your first aerial or pole session.
What to wear
- • Pole: shorts + top that allows skin contact for grip
- • Aerial: fitted leggings + sleeved or fitted top
- • Avoid heavy lotion before class
- • Tie long hair back; remove rings and watches
